Title V: Strengthening Programs for Student Success in Mathematics, Science, and Technology
 

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION


What is Title V?
Title V is a  grant from the U. S. Department of Education for Colleges with over 25% Hispanic enrollment. Grants are awarded to assist eligible Hispanic-serving institutions of higher education to expand their capacity to serve Hispanic and low-income students. Five-year development grants and one-year planning grants may be awarded.
  • Its goal is institutional development
  • It impacts all aspects of the college
  • It focuses on improving student outcomes
How does it benefit students?
Funds may be used for activities such as:
  • The renovation of instructional facilities.
  • Faculty development
  • The purchase of scientific or laboratory equipment for educational purposes, funds and administrative management.
  • Development and improvement of academic programs.
  • Acquisition of equipment to strengthen funds management and academic programs.
  • Joint use of facilities, academic tutoring, counseling programs, and student support services.
