When you register, your advisor should give you the information at point of registration, if you lost it keep an eye on your mail, reminder postcards will be sent to all first time registered students, giving the dates and times of this years’ New Student Orientation!
Expand/Collapse Question : What can I expect from Orientation? ‎(1)
You will start to learn the college, meet other new students, meet current student leaders, faculty and staff. Orientation includes, great workshops including Time Management, College Survival Skills 101, Balancing Work, Family and School and many more. Orientation includes Free Food, Music, Prizes and Lots of Fun!

Learning outside the classroom is essential to your entire learning process. All aspects of personal and professional success cannot be taught in a classroom setting.

Expand/Collapse Question : What is the Criteria for eligibility? ‎(1)
Students must have a minimum of 19 transferable college credit hours from MVC (excludes current semester hours), must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at MVC, demonstrate high academic proficiency (3.5 or above), have demonstrated service to Mountain View College and it's student body through participation in such student organizations as the Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kappa, Honors Program, Service Learning or accomplishment in one's major area of interest such as science and technology, journalism, art music, social science, business, foreign language, physical education, theater and speech.

Expand/Collapse Question : What is the process for selection of the Outstanding Student of the Year? ‎(1)
1. The selection committee will be composed of one faculty member who will be appointed to serve as chair, two faculty representatives from the Business & Professional Workforce area, two faculty representatives from the Arts and Science area, a faculty administrator from Student Support Services and one representative from PSS selected by the PSSA president.

2. The selection committee will review the nominations and host a reception to meet the nominees. The selection committee will choose the first, second, and third place winners.

Attend summer training and a challenge course activity
Attend various leadership workshops throughout the academic year
Participate in at least six events each semester as assigned
Students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
Students must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times

Serve as host/hostess for special events and guest speakers.
Help implement programs, lectures and conferences
Assist new and returning students during New Student Orientation.
May serve on campus committees.
Promote and attend Office of Student Life sponsored events

Other tasks as needed by the President, Administrator and the Office of Student Life

Students must be enrolled in at least six credit hours. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have at least 12 credit hours at Mountain View College.

Selection Process
1. Fill out an application (pick up in the Office of Student Life )
2. Receive two recommendation letters, one must be from an MVC faculty
3. Interview with the selection committee

Expand/Collapse Question : I am interested in becoming a SGA Officer, when are the elections held? ‎(1)
Student Government elections are held during the fall semester, to become a candidate, you must attend the SGA Retreat held in September. For more information come by the Office of Student Life office W37 or call 214.860.8715.
Expand/Collapse Question : What are the qualifications for becoming a member of the Mountain View College Student Government Association? ‎(1)
Members must be enrolled in a minimum of three (3) credit hours, they must have a current overall grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Officers must maintain a 2.5 GPA during his or her elected term while maintaining 3 credit hours.
Expand/Collapse Question : What is the Student Government Association? ‎(1)
The Student Government Association is comprised of elected, volunteer and appointed students from the student body. These students advise the Office of Student Life in program/activity planning. Additionally, these students provide the opportunity to participate effectively in "college government" on matters that have a significant effect on the college campus. This includes such issues as budgeting and planning campus events. The students who participate in this organization have a variety of responsibilities including; representation on college committees, addressing issues that concern students, helping to organize events that take place on campus. Additionally they serve on the Student Finance Committee, and facilitating a variety of projects and programs to benefit Mountain View College students.

Educational research shows that students, who get involved in campus life, tend to succeed in their studies. Plus, meaningful involvement in extra curricular activities can give you the needed edge when competing in for jobs and scholarships.

Yes.  You need your student ID…

….with you at all times on campus
…for use of campus facilities. (Testing Center, Library, Weight Room, etc.)

At Mountain View College your ID Card is FREE!
But if you lose your ID card you must pay a $10.00 replacement fee.

ID’s are valid for two full years, although you must update them each semester that you are enrolled.

ID’s and validation stickers are distributed in the Office of Student Life W37.
