 | To support the LEAD professional development program at Mountain View College, funds are available to faculty, staff and administrators for conference attendance, workshops, training, research and other related activities. Professional development funding is one of three funding sources available to MVC employees. Other funding sources are the Employee Development Fund and the Professional Enhancement Program Fund. To facilitate the allocation of professional development funds, professional funding guidelines have been developed. Any full-time or limited full-time employee that has been employed at Mountain View College in their position for 6 months or more may apply for funds (exceptions will be reviewed on a case by case basis). In some instances, and with approval of the college president, part-time staff and adjunct faculty may apply for funds. Professional development funds may be used for travel, registration fees, hotel, training, guest speakers, consultants and trainers. • All requests must be submitted via the Professional Development Funding Request Form. This form is available via e-mail, on line at the LEAD Professional Development web page, or in hard copy from Professional Development Office. • The request form must contain the appropriate signatures, including approval by one's direct supervisor. • All professional development activities for which funds are requested must take place within the current fiscal year in order to receive funding. • There is a $1000.00 cap per fiscal year per employee for individual professional development. Team applications are accepted and will be funded based on need. Team applications have a cap of $2000.00 per fiscal year. • The requested activity must be linked to one of the Board of Trustees strategic initiatives. The initiatives are: 1. Student Success 2. Employee Success 3. Economic and Workforce Development 4. Community Development 5. Business and Fiscal Affairs 6. Organizational Effectiveness • Requests for funding are to be made and approved at least three weeks prior to participation in the activity. Request forms are to be submitted to the Professional Development Office. All requests will be reviewed by the Human Resource/Professional Development Committee for approval. • At the end of the professional development activity, the participant must complete the PD Discovery Form, which is designed to assess the experience. Please note that this form must be completed and returned to the Professional Development Office. Failure to complete and return the PD Discovery Form will result in loss of professional development funding privileges for one year. • The professional development budget will be allocated as follows: o 50% = Funding Requests o 20% = Specialty Programs o 30% = Miscellaneous (Conference Day, Wellness Day, etc.)
