MISSION STATEMENT

The Department of Mathematics at Mountain View College is committed to helping students achieve excellence in their mathematics education and to enable them to succeed in their professional and personal goals.

Some of the options available to meet these objectives and best serve the student body are:
  • Placement testing to accurately identify student’s knowledge and skill levels.
  • Developmental classes to improve the student’s basic math skills
  • Freshman and sophomore level credit course that are transferable to most four-year universities.
  • Lecture and computer based courses offered days, evenings, and weekends to accommodate the student’s personal/work schedules.
 
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

In an attempt to serve the diverse needs of our student body, the Math Department offers the following courses to the students:
 
DMAT

We offer traditional weekly sections (M/W, M/W/F or T/R) and Saturday classes for DMAT. Classes offered are as follows:

FAST TRACK DMAT CLASSES

Fast track classes allow a student to finish two DMAT classes in one semester. Each day class meets four days a week for eight weeks. The evening classes meet two days a week for 2 class periods. Classes offered are as follows:

• DMAT0097 & DMAT0098
• DMAT0098 & DMAT0099
• DMAT0099 & MATH1314

COMPUTER BASED DMAT CLASSES
These are NON-LECTURE COMPUTER BASED classes. Attendance at the scheduled time is mandatory. Students use the computer to do their course work. We offer traditional weekly sections (M/W, M/W/F or T/R). Classes offered are as follows:
