DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION


What is the Life Transitions Program?
 
The Life Transitions Program is designed to meet the unique needs of students who are single parents, displaced homemakers, non-traditional students and adults returning to college seeking an Associate degree.
 
What does Life Transitions offer?
 
The program offers day/evening childcare assistance, a textbook lending library, information and referral of community services and referral to other Mountain View College services. Professional case management style academic advising, degree planning, and registration.
 
 
Textbook Assistance Procedures and Approval Process
 
Applications are accepted on a first-come first-serve basis. The application process begins approximately four weeks prior to the start of classes.
 
Eligibility Requirements
 
Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
Student will not be receiving a book check from Financial Aid
Must be currently enrolled in 9 technical credits or declared a technical major
Must be in good academic standing
 
Students are required to provide:
 
A completed application
A copy of their class schedule
A copy of their paid fee receipt or payment plan paperwork
 
When a student has been approved for textbook assistance, LT staff will pre-package the requested textbooks and notify the student with instruction to pick up textbooks. Upon students’ arrival, student will be given a textbook lending contract agreement to sign before textbooks are released.
 
Child Care Assistance Procedures and Approval Process
 
Applications are accepted on a first-come first-serve basis. The application process begins approximately four weeks prior to the start of classes.
 
Eligibility Requirements

Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
Must be Federal PELL Grant eligible or meet income guidelines
Must be enrolled in 12 credit hours
Must be in good academic standing
Must be a single parent or ESOL student

Students are required to provide:
 
A completed application
A copy of their class schedule
A copy of their paid fee receipt or payment plan paperwork
Copy of child's birth certificate
When a student has been approved for Child Care assistance, an orientation meeting is scheduled to provide the student with instruction to register their child with an approved childcare provider. The student will be given a letter to present to the daycare provider showing participation approval, amount to be paid weekly by student, and ending date for childcare services for that semester.
