Drop/Withdrawal Policy
To drop a class or withdraw from the college, you must follow the prescribed procedure. It is your responsibility as a student to drop or withdraw. Failure to do so will result in you receving a performance grade, usually a grade of "F".
STOP BEFORE YOU DROP
For students who enrolled in college level courses for the first time in the fall of 2007, Texas education Code 51.907 limits the number of courses a student may drop. You may drop no more than 6 courses during your entire undergraduate career unless the drop qualifies as an exception. Your campus counseling/advising center will give you more information on the allowable exceptions.
Remember that once you have accumulated 6 non-exempt drops, you cannot drop any other courses with a "W". Therefore, please exercise caution when dropping courses in any Texas public institution of higher learning, including all seven of the Dallas County Community Colleges. For more information, you may access:

You can drop or withdraw from courses in three ways:
- In person
If you are dropping a class(es), go to the Advising Office
(W140) to acquire the
drop/withdrawal form.
- Online
Drop courses online through eConnect. You must be eligible
for online registration to drop or withdraw online (login
required).
- Fax
Under extenuating circumstances, you may withdraw by fax if you are unable to come to the campus. The drop form must be postmarked before the course's drop date listed on your fee receipt and must contain the following information:
If you drop or withdraw before the official drop/withdrawal deadline, you will receive a "W" (Withdraw) in each class dropped. The deadline for receiving a "W" is indicated on the academic calendar and the current class schedule.
If you need to withdraw after the deadline, go to the Academic Division Office to obtain the Late Withdrawal "Drop After Drop Date" form. After you have obtained approval signatures from the Executive Dean and have attached documentation supporting your reason, the form must be returned to the Admissions Office during normal business hours.
