Mountain View College has an "open door" admissions policy. This policy insures that all individuals who can profit from a college education have the opportunity to enroll.

All students enrolling in state supported colleges are required to have THEA scores, or approved alternative test scores, prior to enrolling in college level classes. Students enrolling in non-college level classes are not required to have THEA or alternative test scores before enrolling. Students can be exempted from THEA requirements if they meet any one of the following:
  • Students  who have an associates or baccalaureate degree
  • Students who have an associate or bachelor degree
Students with qualifying ACT/SAT/TAAS test scores
  • Students 55 year of age or older, not seeking a degree
  • Student from private or out of state colleges, must provide a copy of transcript with core course work in areas for reading, writing and math with a grade of C or better for the specific area for which they plan to enroll.
  • Certificate programs with 42 hours or less of required course work are temporarily TSI waived while enrolled in the Certificate program.
  • Students serving on active duty as a member of the armed forces, the Texas National Guard, or as a member of the reserves and has been serving for at least three years proceeding enrollment.
  • Students who were honorably discharged, retired or released from active duty on or after August 1, 1990.
