Aviation Careers
Professional Pilot The Professional Pilot Program at Mountain View College provides the flight training and ground school instruction necessary to complete the Commercial Pilot and Certificated Flight Instructor certificates. Successful completion of the program results in achieving an associate degree from Mountain View College. In addition to the associate in applied sciences degree requirements, students may train for the Instrument Flight Instructor certificate and the Multi-engine rating. All ground school instruction and flight training conforms to Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Parts 61 and 141 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR). Students completing this option will have the basic FAA certificates and ratings required for careers as airline pilots, corporate pilots, flight engineers, flight instructors, air taxi pilots, aerial applicator pilots, aircraft salespersons, pilots for law enforcement agencies, and other general aviation positions. Admission to this program will be in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and upon consultation with and approval by an Aviation Technology instructor. Flight fees, simulator fees, pre- and post-flight briefing fees are in addition to the regular tuition.
Aircraft Dispatcher The job of an aircraft dispatcher is an integral part of the overall flight operations of an airline. An individual in this position works in conjunction with an airline pilot and is responsible for regulation compliance, weather analysis, and aircraft loading prior to aircraft departure. In the Aircraft Dispatcher Program, students may earn a certificate after approximately one year, or complete the Associate in Applied Sciences Degree. Mountain View College operates an FAR Part 65 approved training program. Admission to this program will be in accordance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and upon consultation with, and approval by, an Aviation Technology Instructor.
Airport Management This option provides students with a general overview of administrative functions related to aviation businesses. It combines aviation and business courses, stressing terminology and management techniques and functions as they apply to the aviation industry. Students completing this program may qualify for support or training positions in airport management, or as staff members to operations superintendents and aviation authority boards.
